Senior Accountant - Glasgow , up to £65K pa + Bens

Elite Audit & Finance Recruitment are exclusively representing a fast-growing Accountancy firm in the UK with new offices based in Glasgow. The new role will help head up the office in Glasgow and act as the Senior Accountant/ Client Accountant.

We are seeking an experienced and fully qualified Practice Accountant (ACCA/ACA) to join the firm. 

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of solid experience within an accountancy practice, strong technical skills, and the confidence to manage client relationships independently.

You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio, prepare complex accounts, review work completed by junior staff, and support the Partners in delivering a high-quality service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and LLPs.
  • Produce management accounts, forecasts and financial reports as required.
  • Review accounts and VAT returns prepared by Semi Seniors and juniors. (4 staff to mentor)
  • Prepare and review corporation tax computations and personal tax returns.
  • Manage your own portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact.
  • Provide proactive advice to clients on accounting matters, compliance and best practice.
  • Support the firm with workflow planning and resource allocation.
  • Assist with staff development, training and mentoring.
  • Ensure all work is completed within professional and regulatory standards.
  • Use a range of accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and practice software.

The hours are flexible and will offer hybrid work ideally 2-3 days in the office . The hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm (flexible working available with core hours from 10 am to 4 pm).

Your Experience

  • ACA, CA, ACCA qualified , minimum 5 years
  • Experience of working in a previous practice environment is essential (ideally in Scotland)
  • Xero and Sage systems accounting experience.
  • Process driven mindset.
  • Clear written & verbal communication.
